Happy Thanksgiving! I hope you are reading this with a steaming cup of coffee, that you've slept in and are just starting to think about maybe a shower and starting cooking prep (or relaxing longer!).

Why are parents and spouses/partners so difficult to shop for? I always struggle to find the right item that is a touch of a splurge but also won't offend my husband's down-to-earth (ahem *frugal*) sensibilities. Same with my Dad - he's the standard "I just want you and your sister to be happy and healthy, but I wouldn't mind a good book recommendation".

Now my mom, always has some good ideas and I find her to be the easiest to shop for - mostly because she shares the ideas freely and because if it involves expensive soap, perfume, yarn or cashmere then she is happy.

These ideas will also work for your in-laws. My in-laws are incredibly practical people (it's no surprise where Brian gets it!), so they usually have a mix of needs that have broken or need to be replaced/upgraded and then we mix it up with some splurges (fun food items, soft socks or handmade knitwear).
